Meeting Bee Chalmers & a Photo Swap *squeeeeel*

I don’t want to sound like a groupie, but who am I kidding, I’m just like all those drooling New Kids on the Block fans from the 90’s. I stumbled upon Bee Chalmers work through the Jinky Art fan page about a year ago. I was inspired by her work, I mean it really resonated with me. It was fun, real, honest, artistic, and her sessions told such a beautiful story. I really aspired to shoot like her – in a non-freaky way of course. 🙂 I remember wanting to contact her to say how much her work meant to me, but I didn’t want to sound stupid, pathetic or stalker-ish if you get my drift. I bit the bullet though, and wrote a message. As it turns out, it was one my best ideas! Bee was quick to respond and absolutely humble about her work and delighted to hear from a beginner. I really owe her a lot for having built up my self-esteem with each like on my Facebook page. I never dreamed we’d meet face-to-face because she lives in Vancouver, BC.

So fast-forward to November 2012 and I, Jenna Reich, was lucky enough to not only shoot her with her kids, BUUUUT she did a session with my family!!!  Did my nerves make me nauseous thinking about her session??? Um, yeah! Did I want to take a couple of shots beforehand??? Absolutely. But, surprisingly, once I met her and her adorable kids, my panic fizzled and I just began shooting.  We had a mere 40 minutes with one another’s families, so it was a half session really but I am so happy with my images – I mean, oh my gosh, do I LOVE them!!!! I already ordered an album with every single image from the session!!!

I guess you’re more interested in seeing the images, am I right? Well, I’ll start by showing her amazing work and then my session with her family will follow. It is a looong post – longest post I’ve ever done. But, I think it’s worth it! Isn’t cool to see two photographers shoot at the same place and the way their processing and vision can be unique? I love that so, so much!

Aren’t they incredible??!!

And now, my session with her and her babies.

Rebecca - Ummmm…Jenna, seriously, I am the one who feels humbled. And the fact that you said I inspired you, makes me feel like crying…in a good way. Thank you for your kind words. But the fact is, I love your work too! It really resonates with me too. And you inspire me daily (true story). So grateful to have these beautiful pictures of me with my children (wish Jake could of made it…but next time!). And so grateful we could meet in person and take photos of one another. Although we certainly need a much LONGER visit next time…maybe with a drink in hand. MUCH LOVE. XOReplyCancel
