It occurred to me the other day while I was culling through all of my images from the refugee photo essay -“A New Beginning” I worked on this year, that I haven’t shared nearly enough images from the project. Because of the number of images I took as a whole, I was only able to choose a few to represent the project, but each family had a little story of their own to tell and as I try to select some images for a photo essay competition I’m entering this month, I decided to share a series of images for each of the families I photographed.
No timeline here – just as I can. I just need the world to meet these inspiring mothers. They each meant so much to me and taught me something about love, life, commitment, dedication, and rebirth. It was a project I can only hope to continue one day.
I’m very happy that a number of the images have gained attention and been seen by so many people already. The project was shared over on Clickin Mom’s Blog. Additionally, seven of the images were chosen to be included in the Voice Competition Collection under the category “photo essay”. And, I would love for you to check out the multimedia project we presented publicly at International Rescue Committee Tucson. Many of the families from this project came to the viewing and it was a powerful moment to see their reactions to their stories. They laughed and smiled and asked to see it again and again. It was such a beautiful day.
So, I present to you, “The Four Daughters”
