I considered doing another year of 365 photos, but in the end I decided to take the pressure off myself from posting and editing daily. I knew it wouldn’t change the fact that I pick up my camera everyday anyway. Funny how things sort of fall into place because shortly after I had come to this decision, I had a wonderful opportunity present itself. I got an invite to join a 10 on 10 project for 2013 with several AMAZING photographers whom I look up to and am constantly inspired by!
What is a 10 on 10 you ask? Well, it’s simply a circle of photographers who post 10 images on the 10th day of every month for an entire year. We link one another’s posts to our own posts so readers can easily follow the circle of participating photographers and get introduced to new photographer’s work. Each month can have a theme or simply document the 10th day of every month. I don’t know how this creativity exercise will manifest itself in the coming months, but for now I will most likely stick to an idea, focus on a new skill, highlight something meaningful to me for that month, or anything else that feeds my soul.
I’m starting this project with these images of my daughter. I love shooting in the dark and manipulating light. I like harsh shadows and negative space. That’s was my goal for this 10 minute session.
My baby girl has always kept me from darkness with her bright eyes and knowing spirit. I don’t know how I lived so long without her. She completes me in a way I never thought possible. And here she is, perfectly lit. Spotlighted.
Shhhh…. I know I have 12, not 10!
Grab a cup of tea or coffee and follow the amazing talent of this circle of photographers. You may need a drool rag – I’m not even kidding!
First up, is Maria Manco!
