This is such a great motivator- this 10 on 10. I know I should probably follow rules about posting 10 images that reflect one whole day in our life, but I do that so much already that I love using this project as a catalyst to try new things or practice something new or challenging for me.
For months now, I’ve noticed how infrequently I shoot vertical images. I don’t even know the reason behind me not doing it, but it’s something I want to change. So, for this 10 on 10, I decided to shoot with that in mind and aim to shoot at least 50% of my images vertically. Another thing I wanted to practice more of is shooting in full sun. While these images weren’t taken at noon, they were still shot when the sun was high in the sky, making it harsh and creating shadowing. I reluctantly embraced the shadows below Annabelle’s hat, and found in the end that I actually am quite fond of them.
It is so difficult sometimes to hear a constant droning sound of “what not to do” coming from all directions in the photography community, especially when your heart is whispering, “Rules? Schmules!” (did I spell Schmules correctly?)
It’s my belief, that if I feel “LOVE” and “BEAUTY” in my images, others surely will too.
Now, follow the circle to check out the ridiculously talented Maria Manco and her beautiful 10 on 10 images for February.
